Fire alarms are divided into two technologies.
Conventional and Analogue Addressable. Both systems normally consist
of smoke or heat detectors being positioned around the building in
volatile areas and deliberately operated devices in the shape of
break glass call points in common areas and adjacent to entry or
exit doors. Unlike intruder alarms, fire alarms do not have bell
boxes outside but have fire bells inside the building. External fire
bells maybe used if required.
Control Panels give indication of whether there
is a fault of fire so that correct action can be taken. Fire alarms
can also be connected to a signaling device to alert a Central
Monitoring Station. All fire alarms are installed, maintained and
certificated in accordance with British Standards 5839 and 6113.
